Dear Tigers,
Folks,
HTCC had a productive meeting ( after a brief confusion of moving from Shehnai-London Sizzler - Salam Namaste :)) and some important decisions were made regarding the Captaincy, VC, Individual responsibilities, membership dues, player rotation policy and more importantly, HTCC's goals for the Summer season.
Members Present during meeting:
1.Akbar
2.Raheel
3.Anil
4.Amit
5.Raju
6.Mohit S
7.Mohit M
8.Shakeel
9.Rao
10.Amrish
11.Varun
Following are the list of things that were decided by the members who were present during the meeting:
1.Akbar Ali has been nominated as the Captain for Summer '08. It has been long coming and welcome decision from the club. Akbar has been a very dedicated and committed cricketer and takes his game seriously. We all know that he is one of the best players HTCC have had so far and I am sure he will be an excellent captain as well.
2.Raj Nair, another senior most player for HTCC, has been nominated as the Vice Captain. Raj has been playing with HTCC for the past 5-6 years and correctly deserves to be the Vice Captain. Raj has stepped up to the plate and has agreed to take on some other responsibilities as well.
We wish good luck to Akbar & Raju for the forthcoming season and the entire club will be looking forward for the new Captain/Vice Captain to induce some winning attitude and discipline in to the club.
3.Raj to maintain weekly expenses and drinks( Water & Gatorade. NO BEER) throughout the season. We expect the other members also to arrange for drinks if requested by Raj or Akbar for some matches when Raj is busy.
4.Strict discipline will be enforced. I know we have been saying this for past few seasons, but, it will be strictly enforced this season. Since we have a roster of 16-17 players, priority will be given to players who show up on the ground at least 30 minutes before the game starts and try to give 100 % on the field. The Captain/Vice Captain have been told not to pick a member who does not show commitment or lacks discipline.
5.Practice sessions will be conducted and we request the members to show up for the practice at least once in 2 weeks. I will be talking to CICC to make some arrangements to using their practice nets.
6.Membership Fee is due before the first game on March 2nd. In case there is a practice game next week, everyone is expected to submit their dues without fail by next week or March 2nd.
Regular Members - $ 150.00
Students - $ 100.00
On a separate note, HTCC is the only team that collects minimal fee and provides lunch and drinks for free. The money that is being collected is spent on lurch and drinks. Unlike other clubs, where you end paying $300-$400 just for the playing and still pay for your own lunch and drinks. Just to give you an example, MCC & TCC.
MCC charges a membership fee of $50.00 which is just a registration fee and $10.00 is collected from each person for every single game.
TCC charges $200-$300 from every member.
So, please do not hesitate in paying the small amount which is spent on your food and drinks every Sunday.
7.Website to be launched and maintained by Raj/Varun & Raheel.
8.Strict player rotation policy to be implemented. I request the non-regular members not to leave the club thinking they may not get a chance to play. We will do the best to accommodate and give a fair chance to all the members based on availability.
IMPORTANT:
HTCC is planning on conducting a SIX-A-SIDE tournament during Summer. HTCC SIX-A-SIDE was an yearly event for the past few years. Unfortunately for the last couple of years we have not been able to conduct any such tournament for the lack of funds and commitment from the players. We request all the members to support the club in organizing some funds, sponsorship or at least commit to some manual help if the Club decides to conduct the tournament.
Raheel Khan has come up with a great idea for promoting cricket in Houston and which will build a reputation for HTCC. It is a subscription Magazine and we had the opportunity to see the pilot and it is seems to be an excellent idea. Please support him with your ideas and referrals that can help him launch this Magazine successfully. Great Work Raheel. Looking forward to the Magazine Launch.
I am not sure if I covered everything. But, the bottom line is to rebuild HTCC reputation as a winning team.
Our first goal for this Summer is to win the Division Championship and trust me we can do it.
GO TIGERRRSSSSS!!!!!!
